This Zoo offers a lot of excitement to its visitors, the first being, of course, its wide variety of animals like Bengal Tigers, Asiatic Lions, Indian Rhino, Leopards, Panthers, Boars, Indian Elephants, Deer, Slender loris, and antelopes. Flocks of migratory birds grace these lands during different seasons.

It also offers multiple safari rides to the visitors having options of choosing from a bus ride or a Jeep which pass through the core areas of the Park where Lions, Tigers, leopard, and other wild animals roam in their natural habitat. The ticket price for Safari rides are relatively cheaper around Rs. 250 person and Rs. 100 each for children.

The major attraction for me was the nocturnal house. Which was made in such a way that the nocturnal animals stay active during the visitor timings and it artificially converts day into night and night into day so that even the animals like Chimpanzee, Slender Loris, Fruit bats, Slow Loris, Leopard cats, Giraffes,  Hedgehogs, owls, and civets have their sleep routine normal.

The aquarium, although not so well maintained with limited aquatic animals to exhibit has a variety of reptiles to showcase along with butterfly house and tortoise house, which are very famous among children.

Other major attractions include a train ride which covers almost all corners of the zoo and natural history museum which showcases a great variety of animal fossils.

Educational and feeding sessions along with animal awareness programs are also part of the zoo activities.

Which are very useful to raise awareness about the importance of Flora and Fauna to sustain ecological balance and protect the environment. These sessions are quite effective as they are planned on a daily basis.

Overall it was a good experience for me to visit the Nehru Zoological Park, it was a lifetime experience for me to get so close to wild animals on a Safari and watching those rare varieties migrated birds.

So I would recommend you to visit the zoo during the winters and make sure you visit on a weekday. So that you can watch the animals in their natural mood under natural conditions since they tend to come out of the cage when there is less noise.
